Hi. My name is William and I write the reviews on Dinner & Wine. I live in London, having decided after graduating 16 years ago that it was the place to go if I wanted a career in writing. I'm originally from Sheffield.

 

Dinner & Wine was created as a home for writing about my two biggest interests. I feel I need to write separately from work, with the freedom to do so how and when I like. Many people familiar with 'the writing process' will know that it can be a torturous one, and appreciate that a deadline is often the mechanism for ensuring anything ever gets finished. Setting up a website was enough to create a similar, necessary type of pressure.

 

If life goes as planned, the site will become a record of the best and most noteworthy restaurants and wine I've tried. Hopefully, it might help someone searching for a review of a specific restaurant or wine and provide a mildly entertaining diversion for anyone else.

I pay for my own food and drink. I have reviewed restaurants and products that have been comped by PR companies in the past and the conditions imposed by the website I wrote for were, on occasion, ethically dubious and creatively restrictive as a result. Older and moderately less desperate, I wouldn't now enter into the same arrangement.
